lose the wires, be free

The Works Business Centre Backing New Tenant's Wi-Fi Service

A state-of-the-art business centre based in Manchester , is putting its money where its mouth is by installing a wireless internet system provided by one of its newest tenants.

WiFi provider MyZones moved into The Works Business Centre in Ardwick in August this year – and bosses at The Works were so impressed with the system that they promptly signed up themselves.

Wireless internet connectivity is now available throughout The Works, including in its reception, meeting rooms and mezzanine break-out area, and can be used by tenants’ guests and customers, as well as other visitors to the centre.

Users are provided with an individual user name and password from reception, thus providing them with free internet access for their wireless-enabled laptop computers or PDAs, and security measures within the MyZones system’s comprehensive management facility restrict the use of their service to authorised users only.

The Works offers fully-furnished serviced office accommodation for up to 30 people, as well as ‘virtual office’ space, and includes companies in the technology, financial, marketing and public sectors amongst its 22 tenant firms.

WiFi connectivity will now form part of the package that The Works offers to prospective centre residents, and director Mark Oakes believes that this sort of added-value service is essentially in setting The Works apart from its peers.

He says: “Competition in our sector is very tough, so opportunities to set yourself apart through the services that you offer, and therefore to create some competitive advantage, have to be grasped quickly.

“We had been considering the provision of a WiFi network and had looked at different options for putting in place, but once we got talking to the MyZones team, it was clear that the service they were offering their customers was perfect for our requirements too.

“Putting the system in place has been a painless process, and now, instead of having to wait to be wired into our system, visitors to The Works now simply log into the MyZones system wherever they are in the public areas of the centre, meaning they and our tenants can get on with doing business much more quickly.”

The MyZones system also allows companies to modify the first page on which users land to include any message they choose, such as information on products, services or forthcoming events.

It is suitable for use by companies in a wide range of sectors, from hotels and business centres to professional services firms and multi-tenant residential accommodation.

Bob Cleary, Business Development Manager at MyZones, adds: “The forward-thinking style and high quality service that The Works offers attracted us as tenants, and it’s very pleasing to be contributing something to this whilst also boosting our own business.

“Companies increasingly need to provide wireless internet access throughout their premises for clients and other visitors, in order to enable them to carry out the business they want to do, and the positive experiences that users have had with the system at The Works is an excellent example of the benefits that can result from offering such a service.”
